Icons coming home
Tom Harrison (412 club appearances, 1968–1984) and Danny Reid (1975–1989) need little introduction at Larkspur Oval. Between them they hold the club records for most first-class wickets in a season and most catches by an outfielder — and both learned the game on the very school grounds they will return to in April.
What the weekend holds
Across April 5–6, more than 300 children from nine local schools will rotate through batting, bowling and fielding stations run by Harrison, Reid and the club’s academy coaches. Saturday closes with an exhibition six-over match; Sunday ends with an open Q&A in the pavilion for parents on pathways into junior cricket.
Why it matters
Larkspur’s academy has doubled in size in five years, and weekends like this are the reason. “You never forget the day a club legend shows you how to hold a bat,” says academy director Priya Nair. “For many of these kids, this is where a lifetime in cricket begins.” Entry is free, but places are limited — registration opens through the academy page.
